Herdade do Mouchao – Alentejo’s oldest established winery (1901) has always been held under the same family ownership and is one of the most traditional producers in Portugal, still pressing every single grape by hand-cranking a vertical press. They are responsible for the introduction of Alicante Bouschet into the Portuguese wine landscape.
Rafael Tinto 2022 is composed of Aragonêz, Trincadeira, Castelão, and Alicante Bouschet, a steppingstone into the Mouchao range, it’s a beautiful medium-bodied wine, elegant and well structured with silky fruit flavors, and some earthiness in the palate.

A wine with approachable complexity and elegant rusticity. A blend of Aragonês (Tempranillo), Trincadeira, Castelão and Alicante Bouschet, that smartly leverages each variety. Crunchy plum and mulberry fruit with a delicious seam of coffee beans and dark chocolate. Deft integration of both wood and alcohol. Pleasant grip, at once zesty and savoury.
